Family
Member Visa
If close relatives are coming with you, they may
apply for the so-called "Family Member Visa",
which is issued on the basis of your Visa Invitation
together with your visa. Usually the visa for a member
of the family is given out in case of a long stay
of "the head of the family" in Russia under
Business, Working or other visas. This type of visa
is issued for the period shorter or similar to the
visa of the "head of family". Normally
the time needed for issuing a visa to a family member
is equal to the time needed for issuing a visa to
the "head of family." The Consular fee
is lower. In case of difficulties with obtaining
the visa for a member of the family probably it will
be easier to get another type of visa.
To obtain a Russian Family Visa the following documents
should be submitted to the Russian Embassy or Consulate:
- A passport with at least one
clear page for a visa that is valid not
less than one month after the date of your
departure
from Russia or (in some cases) a photocopy
of the passport's vital information pages
showing Name, Birth Date, Passport Number,
Expiration
Date. Diplomatic passport holders should
submit both copies of the passport pages
that contain
personal data of the bearer and original
passport.
- A completed and signed visa
application form (questionnaire) one per person available
at
the Consulate. See the forms below.
- Passport size & type photos of
the applicant (one of them should be
stapled
to the marked
space at the upper right-hand corner of
the application form).
- Visa entitlement certificate (Izveshenie)
your relatives or friends in Russia should
obtain from the local OVIR in Russia and
send original certificate to your address.
